Abstract: The red gene is a valuable spiritual wealth of the people in the revolutionary old areas and an important driving force for promoting the revitalization of the rural areas in the old revolutionary areas. As a spiritual leader, it will last for a long time with the development of the times. It has the vitality and appeal that transcends time and space, and is of great value to the revitalization of the rural areas in the new era of revolutionary old areas. In order to realize the new development of the revolutionary old district and promote the strategy of rural revitalization, the Hongjun town of Xunyang county should play the role of red gene. Constructing red propaganda activities, spreading new ideas with red revolutionary stories; carrying out literary and artistic creations and sending dramas to the countryside, cultivating cultural endogenous motivation for poverty alleviation; setting up characteristic township courses, strengthening the three-dimensional construction system of cadres' ideals and beliefs, and leading the poor to increase their income and achieve revitalization in the old revolutionary areas.
