Abstract: The leaves of the ‘Red Flash’(Caladium bicolosr) with a leaf stalk were used as the test material. To establish a feasible protocol for cutting propagation of Caladium bicolosr under hydroponics, the leaves with petiolecuttings were treated with different concentrations of NAA (0、0.5、1.0、2.0、4.0 mg/L) and then cultured in nutrient solution, respectively, and effects of the NAA treatments on the adventitious root formation, plantlet growth, pigment content, soluble sugar content, soluble protein content and root activity were compared. Results showed that the rooting percentage of all the treatments reached 100%, while different treatments had different effects on root formation, plant growth and related physiological indexes. Taken together, 2.0 mg/L was the optimal concentration of NAA for the plant growth, and this treatment had obviously positive effects on the pigment content, soluble protein content and root activity of the plantlets.
