Study on the delimitation of urban expansion boundary in hilly and mountainous areas:A case study of Jiangjin district in Chongqing

Abstract: In order to coordinate the relationship between urban development and ecological protection in hilly and mountainous areas, and promote the intensive and economical use of land resources, taking Jiangjin district of Chongqing as an example, the boundary of urban land use expansion in Jiangjin district in 2030 was delineated using the method of combining the suitability evaluation of construction land and CA-Markov model. The results show that the area within the boundary of urban land expansion in Jiangjin region in 2030 is 199.57 km2, which accounts for 6.2% of the total land area of Jiangjin district. Different from the agglomeration and group expansion in plain area, the form of urban expansion in Jiangjin district is mainly zonal, the central city, the central town in the east, midland and the west are the main growth poles of the urban expansion. And the direction of the expansion is "cross", which mainly extends around the growth pole and along the Yangtze River and the main roads of traffic.
