Abstract: The study was about observation on circadian activity rhythm of Pteromys volans that were caught from northern Zhangguangcai mountain in autumn and fed under the cage condition in the laboratory. The results showed that the Pteromys volans had typical behavioral rhythm of nocturnal animals and was greatly influenced by natural light. With early night and late dawn, the activities outside the nest of the mice also changed. The total out-of-nest activity time was 337.33 min(5.62 h), of which 92.23% were nocturnal activities, 37.72% were out-of-nest foraging activities and 62.28% were other activities. Total activities, foraging and other activities outside the nest all peaked at 17:00—19:00 pm, 21:00—22:00 pm and 3:00—5:00 am. The frequency of foraging activity was significant positively correlated with the amount of time (r=0.600,P<0.05), and the linear regression equation was y=4.826x-4.475.
