Research progress of quorum sensing in Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Abstract: The known group effect systems in Staphylococcus aureus are the Agr system and LuxS/AI-2 system, which are activated when the bacterial concentration is equal to or greater than 1×10⁷ CFU/mL, and indirectly or directly regulates the production and degradation, bacterial toxin secretion, and bacterial growth of the biofilm by regulating the corresponding genes. The research progress of the group effects of Staphylococcus aureus were reviewed, and a new direction for future research on Staphylococcus aureus was found. There is an inevitable relationship between the pathogenicity of Staphylococcus aureus and the formation of biofilms and the quorum sensing system of Staphylococcus aureus.
