Abstract: National central cities were not only the leaders of the whole country’s economy development, but also an important support point for participating in global economy trade and cooperative division of labor. The establishment of national central cities can promote the overall development of regional economy and realize the integration of regional economy development. Taking 16 cities as the research objects, this study analyzed the advantage dimensions of each city in the development status under the six dimension index system. The results showed that Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing were the national central cities in the four directions of north, east, south and west, and their leading position in economy development was obvious. The economy agglomeration degree of national central cities was obvious, but the effectiveness of environmental governance need to be improved, and scientific and technological innovation need to be strengthened.
