Abstract: In order to explore the variation law of seed growth of different clones in the second-generation seed orchard of Cunninghamia lanceolata, 22 clones were used as experimental materials to study the main yield and quality evaluation indexes of 9 varieties. The results showed that there were significant differences in seed yield and quality among clones, and there was a certain correlation between each index. The average cone yield, cone length, cone width, fruit shape index, seed yield, excellent degree, germination rate, 1 000-grain weight and astringency rate of Cunninghamia lanceolata were 1.71 kg, 27.27 mm,1.12,24.40 mm, 0.16 kg, 73.88%, 35.21%, 7.01 g and 19.45%, respectively. Cluster analysis showed that 22 clones were divided into 4 groups at 13 euclidean distances. Group I had the best performance, including 8 clones ED4, ED14, ED3, ED8, ED19, ED17, ED16 and ED12. The average cone yield, cone length, cone width, fruit shape index, seed yield, excellent degree, germination rate, 1000-grain weight and astringency rate of these clones were 1.86 kg, 28.50 mm, 1.10,25.84 mm, 0.18 kg, 74.67%, 47.50%, 8.273 g and 18.42%, respectively. The yield and quality traits of cone and seed can be used as an important index for germplasm selection of Cunninghamia lanceolata. The excellent clones were selected as the optimal germplasm materials of Cunninghamia lanceolata.
