Abstract: As the basic content of landscape design practice, the cultural landscape is a collection of material landscape elements with certain cultural information. The common design idea of "cultural resource analysis > cultural symbol extraction > landscape expression" not only causes excessive symbolization of cultural landscape design, but easily hinders its value utilization and promotion. Based on the cultural essence of the cultural landscape and the design idea of contextualism, the research object is placed in the 4D space composed of geographical and historical space, and the concept of cultural landscape particles is put forward according to the law of cultural development and the principle of conversion between "Cultural Space - Symbolic Space - Material Space”. This is taken as the research object to analyze the nesting relationship and utilization value between different cultural landscape particles, and the stable form, diffusion form, superposition form and symbiotic form in the development process of cultural landscape particles and their utilization value, and to describe the future and past application scenarios based on the time axis, and to build a basic framework for the judgment, measurement and development and utilization of cultural landscape value in landscape design.
