Research Progress on the Pentatricopeptide-repeat Protein

Abstract: Pentatricopeptide-repeat,PPR protein is a huge protein family in plants. They can affect the metabolism of RNA in organelles,such as RNA splicing,editing,degradation and translation. PPR protein is composed of continuous PPR motifs. The protein shows a right hand spiral structure and has the ability to bind to the single strand of RNA. With the development of research,artificial design of PPR protein has matured. The rules of interaction between PPR protein and RNA are clearer. It is expected to be developed into a new biological technology for the regulation of RNA in organelles.
