Abstract: According to the studies on gonad development and investigation into practice about reproduction of yellow catfish （Pelteobagrus fulvidraco）, there was a long breeding period of yellow catfish in the same year, which can be used to induce spawning artificially. In view of the production practices, two periods of late April to early June and mid-August to early September were set for mass cases to induce spawning. Comparative efficacy between the two periods on induced spawning were investigated in this study and the results showed that the egg production, rate of ovulation and level of fertilization were lower, less hormone and shorter time to spawn were required during the later period. The aim of the catfish propagation in the later period was to provide bigger size fry for culture purposes, with a great of production significance.
