The Application of Expanded Sealwort Particles in Cigarette Filter

Abstract

Abstract: In order to study the feasibility of the application of sealwort in cigarette filter, sealwort particles available in the market were expanded via microwave treatment and applied to cigarette filter. The conventional components, 7 harmful components in mainstream smoke, and sensory quality of cigarette with sealwort filter were analyzed and compared with those of cigarette with regular acetate filter. The results indicate that, the release of phenol, ammonia, and crotonaldehyde in mainstream smoke of cigarette with sealwort filter were reduced by 13.14%, 9.72%, 6.55%, respectively; Sealwort particle in cigarette filter can not only keep harmony with the aroma of the cigarettes, but also promote cigarette aroma quantity and reduce the irritation.
