Abstract: Experiment was conducted to study the effect of rapeseed as green manure on biomass and yield of mechanically transplanted middle-season rice variety Liangyou 1318. The results indicated that rape green manure was beneficial to the increase of effective panicle number and yield of mechanically transplanted middle-season rice. After using rapeseed as green manure, the effective panicle number and yield of rice increased 7.0% and 4.2%, respectively, while compared with the control treatment. It could also improve the lodging resistance of rice. This may be related to the increase of soil organic matter, P and K content by rape green manure application.
