Abstract: Experiment was conducted with millet variety Jingu 29 as materials to study the effects of density and plants per hill on the reproductive traits and economic traits. The optimal planting density and plants per hill of millet in the shenmu region were analyzed to provide theoretical basis for the high yield and high efficiency cultivation, and the mechanized seeding by small machines. Results showed that different densities and plants per hill had a great impact on the agronomic characters and yield of Jingu 29. With the increase of density, the plant height, ear length, ear diameter and grain weight per ear decreased, and the yield was influenced. The highest yield of Jingu 29 was 5 050.25 kg/hm2 when the density was 180 000 plant hm2 with 2 seedlings per hill on dry land.
