Effects of different sowing date and planting density on yield and agronomic characters of E-Jing 403

Abstract: To investigate the effects of different sowing date and planting density on yield and agronomic characters of direct-seeding rice after wheat harvest, japonica variety E-Jing 403 was grown in field experiment with 3 sowing dates S1(05-25), S2(06-04), S3(06-14)and 4 densities D1(45 kg/hm2), D2(60 kg/hm2), D3(75 kg/hm2) and D4(90 kg/hm2). The results showed that the sowing date has a great influence on the whole growing period of E-Jing 403. With the postponing of sowing date, the whole growing period is shortened. Direct seeding density had extremely significant effects on basic seedlings, highest seedlings and effective ears,while sowing date had extremely significant effects on plant height, percentage of available tiller and yield. In order to improve the yield of direct seeding rice E-jing 403, the seeding rate should be reduced in early sowing and increased in late sowing.
