Abstract: 35 late indica hybrid rice varieties （combinations） were selected to compare the character including the plant height, the elongation intermode length of aboveground, the stem substance weigh and density, the tillering process, the number of hole ears and head rate and grain size. These varieties （combinations） were divided into two groups according to lodging and lodging resistance, and the characters of these two groups were contrasted. The results showed that, compared with the lodging varieties （combinations）, the varieties （combinations） with the resistance to lodging exhibited slightly shorter plant height, the shorter length of the third elongation internode, larger stem substance weigh and density, the earlier tillering, more effective ears and higher head rate, and so on. In rice production, it can avoid the crop failure because of lodging through proper cultivation measures to enrich the stem quality, promote early and quickly tillering, reduce the lodging from external cause and strengthen the foundation support.
