A brief analysis on the reasons of lodging in the first season of ratooning rice variety Fengliangyouxiang No.1

Abstract

Abstract: Ratooning rice in Dangyang city, Hubei province, has been developed fromspot planting to adult planting. Ratooning rice variety Fengliangyouxiang No.1 has appeared lodging with all of plants fell on the ground from north to south side when rice was into yellow ripeness stage（15 days before harvest） in five groups of Huyang village, Lianghe Town. Through field investigation, the characters of plants in lodging field and unlodgingfield were measured and analyzed. The results showed that lodging was related to cultivation pattern, throwing transplantation caused lodging easily, and machine planting was resistant to lodging. The occurrence of lodging was directly related to the root neck thickness, the number of overground elongation joints, the number of grains per spike and other factors.
