Abstract: Chlorogenic acids (CGAs) as a class of ester compounds, are composed of caffeic acid and quinic acid by condensation. CGAs have biological activities such as antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism. The chemical structure, classification and the major plant source of CGAs were introduced. The research progresses of CGAs on its biological activity and application in livestock and poultry production was summarizedin order to provide reference for furtherdevelopment and utilization of CGAs.
