Abstract: Star anise essential oil by supercritical CO2 was extracted, and the process was optimized by single factor experiment and response surface methodology. The optimized process conditions were the extraction temperature of 37 ℃, the extraction pressure of 17 MPa, the CO2 flow of 25 L/h, and the extraction time of 95 min. Under these conditions, the average yield of star anise essential oil was 9.1%. Through the verification test, the response surface methodology is suitable for the process study of supercritical CO2 extraction of star anise essential oil, which effectively reduces the number and cost of tests.

Key words: star anise essential oil, supercritical CO2, extraction, response surface methodology
