Effects of different nutrient solution formulations on the growth and quality of Dendrobium nobile seedlings

Abstract: To clarify the effects of different nutrient solution formulations on the growth and quality of Dendrobium nobile, six different nutrient solution treatments were applied to Dendrobium nobile seedlings. Growth indicators including survival rate, number of new shoots, stem length, stem diameter, internode length, leaf length, leaf width, and fresh stem weight, as well as quality indicators including soluble sugar content, soluble protein content, and free amino acid content, were measured. The results showed that compared with the control (CK), no significant differences in seedling survival rate were observed among the nutrient solution treatments. T2 demonstrated a clear advantage in promoting the number of new shoots of Dendrobium nobile. The stem length, internode length, leaf length, leaf width, and fresh stem weight of T2 were relatively higher than those of CK and the other treatments, indicating relatively better performance in seedling growth. T1, T2, and T5 exhibited relatively high levels of soluble protein content, soluble sugar content, and free amino acid content, showing relatively good performance in seedling quality. Subordinate function analysis showed that T2 achieved the highest comprehensive score of 0.72. Overall, T2 nutrient solution performed relatively well in both the growth and quality of Dendrobium nobile seedlings.
