Abstract: Based on the survey data from 265 farmer households in Jingzhou city of Jianghan Plain, the farmland, assets, income, and family characteristics of current farmer households were analyzed. The Tobit model was used to empirically analyze the factors influencing the farmer households' land transfer scale. The results showed that the education, agricultural annual income, whether or not having agricultural machinery and signing agreement of householder had significantly positive effects on land transfer scale, and the age, the nature of employment, and the original land area of householder had significantly negative effects on land transfer scale.
