Abstract: In order to rapidly cultivate and popularize new wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties which is suitable for Hubei wheat region, with high quality and high yield and disease resistance, the research on the application of haploid technology in breeding new wheat varieties and their matching cultivation techniques has been carried out. Xiangyang Academy of Agricultural Sciences has developed a new wheat variety Xiangmai D31 using haploid technology. The variety was approved by Hubei Province Crop Appraisal Committee in 2017, and a two-factor split plot experiment of sowing date and density was carried out in autumn 2015 to explore suitable cultivation techniques for Xiangmai D31. The results show that, sowing date significantly affects grain yield and quality of Xiangmai D31, while density has little effect. The suitable sowing date and density of Xiangmai D31 in northern Hubei is 1.8 million seedlings/hm2 sparse sowing at the end of October, but dense sowing does not affects the yield. Haploid breeding is an efficient breeding method worthy of popularization.
