Abstract: The effects of oral administration of Coptis chinensis extract on the contents of serum TNF-α and IL-6 in mice with acute abdominal infection induced by 5 common bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, and Klebsiella pneumonia, were investigated. The results show that the high, medium and low dose groups of Coptis chinensis extract have protective effects on mice with abdominal infection caused by S. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, P. vulgaris, and K. pneumoniae, can significantly reduce the content of TNF-α and IL-6 in mouse serum. Coptis chinensis extract has a certain antibacterial effect, and its mechanism is related to TNF-α and IL-6.
