Abstract: Xianning was known as the “hometown of bamboo”. However, due to the single variety of bamboo shoots, low output per unit area, centralized supply period and other factors, the bamboo shoots industry in Xianning developed slowly. The author conducted research, tracking guidance and technical support on the base of Phyllostachys proecox, which was successfully introduced and cultivated in Xianning, a set of introduction and construction garden and supporting cultivation techniques for Phyllostachys proecox was gradually explored, which was suitable for the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Through years of practice, the average output of Phyllostachys proecox shoot forest under large-scale operation can reached about 2 000 kg per 667 m², effectively improving the economic benefits of bamboo forest operators and greatly promoting the development of bamboo shoot industry.
