Abstract: To explore the impact and mechanisms of digital village construction on the growth of the new rural collective economy, based on provincial-level panel data from China covering the period 2012-2022, the two-way fixed effects, mediation effects, and threshold effects were used to empirically examine the impact, transmission mechanisms, nonlinearity, and heterogeneity of digital village construction on the growth of new rural collective economy. The results showed that digital village construction significantly promoted the growth of new rural collective economy. This promotion occurred by enhancing rural entrepreneurial activity. The impact of digital village construction on new rural collective economy was influenced by its own dual threshold effects, exhibiting a nonlinear pattern with increasing marginal effects. The impact exhibited pronounced regional heterogeneity, with significantly stronger enhancement effects observed in central China and major grain-consuming regions. Based on these findings, recommendations of strengthening the systematic advancement and endogenous motivation cultivation of digital village construction,focusing on stimulating and optimizing rural entrepreneurial vitality and implementing differentiated and targeted policy interventions were put forward.
