Abstract: The cultivated history of ratooning rice in China has been recorded in 1 700. Hubei province was one of the largest ratooning rice area in the country. Xiaogan city was one of the largest grown areas in the Hubei province. In recent years, the experimental research and extension application of ratooning rice was carried out. The planting area of the ratooning rice was gradually expanded in Xiaogan city. Based on the researches,the experience of working in the promotion of the ratooning rice was reported and combined with, the present situation and existing problems of the development of the ratooning rice by analyzing in Xiaogan city were pointed out, and some suggestions for the moderate development were put forward.
