Abstract: Based on the connotation definition of the rural complex, the construction characteristics of 10 rural complex pilots supported by the key project of national comprehensive agricultural development were compared. The construction contents included five functional areas, such as agricultural production, agricultural processing, leisure traveling, residential and comprehensive services center, were also summarized. Taking the Fuyu Mountain rural complex in Yichang as an example, the development path of implementing the "slope-to-ladder"-type development for barren hill, building the "Gubingzhai" culture and promoting the integration of agricultural and rural tourism, were discussed. And some suggestions were also put forward to further the development of rural complex such as efficiently developing agricultural basing on characteristics, cultivating new industries and new formats according to local conditions, paying close attention to the interests of farmers and promoting the deep integration of "farm and tourism", etc.
