Effectiveness of Orius sauteri (Poppius) for the Control of Thrips on Greenhouse Vegetables

Abstract: The effects of releasing Orius sauteri(Poppius) in solar greenhouse of thrips on three crops:Pepper,eggplant and cucumber were evaluated. The results showed that releasing O. sauteri with a density of 2 heads/m2 plant three times (once a week) could obtain good thrips control over several weeks,and 14 days later the control effect on pepper,eggplant and cucumber were 95.82%,88.58%,55.94%,respectively. On pepper and eggplant,it was no extraordinary differences in the control effects between beneficial insect and spinetoram. Meanwhile on cucumber,it showed extraordinarily different control effects between beneficial insect and spinetoram. O. sauteri provided better control on pepper than on eggplant and cucumber.
