The effects of different pruning degree on the growth of new shoots of Idesia polycarpa Maxim.

Abstract: Taking Idesia polycarpa Maxim. as research object, four kinds of pruning experiments were carried out including extremely heavy short section, heavy short section, medium short section and light short section. The results showed that the order of shoots number from less to more was extremely short, heavy short, medium short and light short, and there were significant differences among the four treatments. The order of new tip length from long to short was extremely heavy short section, heavy short section, medium short section and light short section. The largest number of new tip blades was the midium short section treatment, which is significantly different from the other three treatments. There was no significant difference among extremely heavy short section, heavy short section and light short section.
