Abstract: Taking the seeds of celery(Apium graveolens L.) as material, the influence of different salinity sea water on germination of celery was studied. The results indicated that, different varieties of celery seeds had different tolerance to sea water stress. The germination of some varieties of celery seeds could be accelerated under 3‰ seawater salinity, some were inhibited even under 1‰ seawater salinity, all the indexes decreased with the increasing of sea water salinity. Comprehensive consideration, among the tested varieties of celery seeds in germination stage, the seeds of Jinnanshiqin and Huangfeixiqin had stronger salt tolerance, and the salt tolerance of OASIS seed was the worst.

Key words: sea water stress, celery(Apium graveolens L.), seed germination
