Abstract: The growth habits, morphological and reproductive characteristics of the alien plants Pontederia cordata L. and Cortaderia selloana were detailed observed and systematically described. The climate suitability of P. cordata L. and C. selloana were analyzed, combining the domestic climate types, speculated possible introduction areas of P. cordata L. and C. selloana, and constructed the risk assessment system by using analysis hierarchy process(AHP). The results showed that the invasion risk of P. cordata L. and C. selloana was mainly manifested in three aspects, strong environmental adaptability, possibility of diffusion, high cost and difficulty of prevention. The two plants have a moderate risk of invasion, so their introduction needs to be strictly restricted and supervision strengthened. Finally, the corresponding countermeasures and management suggestions were proposed for the risk of invasion of P. cordata L. and C. selloana, and put forward some ideas for the next research work.
