Abstract: The quarterly investigations were carried out on zooplankton community in Shanghetang reservoir in 2016. The species composition and seasonal changes of zooplankton in the Shanghetang reservoir were analyzed. The correlation between the zooplankton community structure and the environmental factors was discussed. A total of 19 genera and 29 species of zooplankton species were observed. The dominant species, average density and biomass of zooplankton community displayed obvious variation with season. Dominant species in the Shanghetang reservoir were Trichocerca pusilla, Brachionus diversicornis and Polyarthra vulgaris. The average annual values for zooplankton density and biomass were (1 225.88±1 572) ind./L and (0.34±0.415) mg/L, respectively. The species richness index(J) and Shannon-Wiener index (H') also showed obvious seasonal variations, with the highest values both in autumn. From the result of canonical correspondence analysis, environmental factors such as water temperature, SD and pH affected the composition and the density of zooplankton community.
