Comparison of Stress Resistance of Maize Varieties from Different Regional Trials

Abstract: Taking the experimental site in Wufeng Tujia Autonomous county of Hubei as an example,we compared and analyzed the stress resistance of tested maize varieties from the Hubei Provincial Maize Variety Regional Trial for Mountainous Area and the National Maize Variety Regional Trial for southwest Area between 2009 and 2016. Results showed that during these years,the mean performance of multiple diseases resistance of the varieties from Hubei Provincial Maize Regional Trial for Mountainous Area was better or much better than the varieties from National Maize Regional Trial for southwest Area. It indicated that the maize breeders in Hubei understood the local diseases situation better and worked more efficiently. It also suggested that it is possible to develop maize varieties with good diseases resistance for certain specific ecological maize planting area.
