Abstract: In view of the practical problems such as the ambiguity of the role orientation of the new professional farmers, the misconnection of the professional needs, the lack of initiative in the research on the professional skills of green agriculture, and the relatively backward environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, within the strategic framework of rural revitalization, the relevant achievements in the research field of new professional farmers in recent years were reviewed, the connotation through the literature of new professional farmers was expounded and the role orientation of new professional farmers was clarified. The study found that under the background of rural revitalization strategy, the new professional farmers included the practitioners of agricultural modernization, the practitioners of agricultural professionalization, the researchers of agricultural greening and the protectors of agricultural ecology. With the comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization, defining the responsibility of rural ecological protection, strengthening the comprehensive quality and ability of green agriculture, stimulating the identity of new-type professional farmers, and strengthening the support of new-type professional farmers will be the realistic way to further shape the new professional farmers.
