Abstract: Field experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of sweet corn/summer savory intercropping on yield,agronomic traits of sweet corn. Results showed a high land equivalent ratio （1.24） for sweet corn/summer savory intercropping,indicating a certain degree of yield advantage of sweet corn/summer savory intercropping. Compared with the monoculture of sweet corn,the intercropping significantly increased the 1 000-grain weight of sweet corn by 12.61%,and the economic benefit by 24.44%. Intercropping positively influenced radiation use efficiency during the later stage of growth. Therefore sweet corn/summer savory intercropping has significant economic and environmental benefits. It not only improves population structure and resource use efficiency of sweet corn,but also reduces fertilizer application. It also reduces the amount of chemical pesticides used during the sweet corn production.
