The Relationship between Urban-Rural Integration and Modern Agriculture Development in Metropolitan Suburbs——A Case Study on Yubei District in Chongqing

Abstract: Metropolitan suburb is the transition zone between urban and rural, so it faced double problems of city and village. It is of great significance to explore the connection and mechanism between urban and rural integration and the development of modern agriculture in these areas, and further get inspiration improving the construction of urban and rural areas and the agriculture development in the new period. Based on carding the theory and relevant research of urban-rural integration and modern agriculture, a set of index system was constructed to study the level of urban-rural integration and modern agriculture development in the suburbs of metropolis, and verify whether existed a long-term stable dynamic co-integration and causality relationship between them with Yubei district as example. The results showed that: ①Since 2002, the degree of urban and rural co-ordination in Yubei District was continued improving.②The level of modern agriculture development in Yubei District increased year by year. ③Yubei District, as an important component of Chongqing metropolitan area, the development of urban and rural integration was mainly by urban areas helping rural areas and industrial promoting agriculture. The development of urban-rural integration and the modern agriculture has a stable co-integration and one-way causal relationship. Urban metropolitan suburbs should pay more attention to promote the factors bi-directional fluxion of the urban and rural, narrow the gap between urban and rural areas, promote the integration of three main industries, vigorously develop green agriculture, leisure agriculture and rural tourism, take efforts to promote industrial development ecology, eco-economic industrialization, and achieve local urbanization gradually.
