Analysis and ecological risk assessment on heavy metal contents of farmland soils in Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone

Abstract: A total of 58 soil samples were collected from farmland soils in Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone. The contents of 8 heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cr, Hg, As, Ni, Cu, Zn) were analyzed. The single factor pollution index and Nemerow synthetical pollution index were used to evaluate the heavy metals in farmland soils in this area based on the soil environmental quality risk management and control standard. The results showed that the farmland soil in Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone was in a clean level, and there was slight Cd pollution in a small area (1.72%). There was no Pb, Ni, Cr, Cu, Hg, Pb pollution were found.
