Evaluation measure and analysis of agricultural science and technology popularization efficiency in Hubei province:Based on the survey of peasant household data in Hubei province

Abstract: Agricultural science and technology extension service was an important means to improve agricultural production efficiency in China, which was the key to the green and efficient development of agriculture. In this paper, the data were obtained through the peasant survey in the sample area of Hubei Province, and the Ordinal Logistics model was used for econometric analysis to measure the evaluation of peasant households on the economic efficiency, social efficiency and ecological efficiency of agricultural science and technology extension service. First, the results showed that the field demonstration and household guidance were the most popular methods for farmers.Second, the ranking of farmers' approval attitude towards various benefits of agricultural science and technology extension service was: economic benefits > ecological benefits > social benefits. Third, when the other conditions remain unchanged, the two popularization methods of “observation and learning” and “exchange meeting” can significantly improve farmers' evaluation of the service effect, while “issuing technical guidance materials” was not conducive to the improvement of farmers' evaluation of the service effect of agricultural science and technology popularization. Finally, it was found that the government should improve the cultural and educational level of farmers in various aspects, strengthen the exemplary leading role of agricultural science and technology demonstration households, and increase policy support and fund input to improve the efficiency of agricultural science and technology popularization services.
