Analysis on factors affecting farmers’ income in geographical indication areas under meteorological disasters:Taking “Luochuan Apple” as an example

Abstract: In order to improve the income level of farmers in geographical indication areas, protect their vital interests and realize sustainable development of agriculture, the ordered Probit regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of farmers’ income in geographical indication areas under meteorological disasters based on the micro-survey data of apple growers in Luochuan county. The results showed that farmers’ age, disaster prevention measures, pesticide expenditure, sales price, geographical indication perception, brand price perception and market consumer groups all positively affected farmers’ income. In the special period of meteorological disaster, the appropriate increase of pesticide expenditure of farmers was beneficial to saving agricultural production and improving their income. This paper also put forward some suggestions to guarantee farmers’ income from strengthening the construction of geographical indication of agricultural products, guiding farmers to purchase agricultural insurance, perfecting the price mechanism of agricultural products, attaching importance to farmers’ safety in production and strengthening disaster prevention construction.
