Abstract: The ecological footprint method was used to evaluate the impact of grain consumption on sustainable development in China in recent 20 years. The results showed that the average ecological footprint was 0.101 3 hm2 per person, exceeding the load. According to the current trend of eating habits in China, the ecological footprint of food consumption will increase with the increase of the proportion of soybean and corn consumption. On this basis, policy recommendations are proposed such as encouraging residents to change eating habits, eating more food crops with high yield per unit and small ecological footprint, cherishing food, loving land, and reducing personal ecological footprint.
