Abstract: The bacteria which had antibacterial activity was isolated from the sediments of South China Sea by plate isolation. The antibacterial activity of isolates were identified by paper disk method. The active isolates were identified by 16S rRNA sequencing and the phylogenetic tree constructed by neighbour-joining method. The growth characteristics of bacteria were studied. The results showed that nine active antibacterial bacteria belonging to genus Bacillus and Salinicola were isolated from sediment samples. It was indicated that strain j65 could grow at the concentration of 20% NaCl,and all strains could grow at the range of pH 6~10,except for strain gu8.
