Abstract: Using the property research paradigm, the unstructured interview method and the observation method were used to investigate G village in the suburb of nanjing. Based on the relationship between farmers and land, the internal relationship between urban expansion and the change of farmers' land values was expounded. The analysis found that the “village complex” of the suburban peasants had faded, and the land has became a helpless means of livelihood. It was also highly substitutable. In the early stage of urban expansion, their land values were diversified and represented as traditional land-based and land-based land separation type (indifferent type), land security type and land wealth type coexist. This was closely related to the economic awareness, transfer of employment, citizen orientation, face concept, and “farmers” phenomenon brought about by urban expansion. With the intensification of urban expansion, especially the arrival of land acquisition, the land affinity of suburban farmers would be unprecedented. Strengthening, the concept of land values is also relatively convergent, which was reflected in the fact that the property rights and capital awareness of the land are prominent, rather than the return of the traditional rural complex.
Key words: farmers, urban expansion, land values, local complex, concept of property rights
