Abstract: The connotation and constituent elements of local government competitiveness was briefly described, and the significance of enhancing the competitiveness of local government was discussed. A comprehensive evaluation index system of local government competitiveness was established based on the principle of science and independence, and factor analysis of the competitiveness of 13 prefecture-level municipal governments in Jiangsu province was carried out through SPSS 25.0 software to explain the relationship between local government’s economic regulation and control capabilities, social service capabilities, scientific and educational cultural capabilities, safety control capabilities and local government competitiveness. Finally, enhancing the competitiveness strategic choice were proposed.
