Abstract: The performance and variation of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) quality and agronomic characters on wheat germplasm of different types planted in humpy ground in Xiangyang of northern Hubei province were studied. We have analyzed the agronomic characters and quality indices. The variation analysis and correlation analysis were made on five agronomic character indices including grain number per spike, 1 000-grain weight, plant height and 11 wheat quality indices such as protein content, wet gluten content and sedimentation value. The results of variation analysis showed that the grain number per spike had the highest variation, while the least variation was found on 1 000-grain weight and spikelet number. As for quality indices, the bulk density was with the smallest variation while stability time had the highest variation. Correlation analysis showed that significant positive correlations among the agronomic characters and quality indices. It should be considered in wheat breeding and germplasm resources innovation to improve the selection efficiency of high quality wheat and the accuracy of comprehensive evaluation.
