Research on the impact of the “crayfish-rice cultivation” model on national food security:Based on a survey in Qianjiang city,Hubei province

Abstract: The “crayfish-rice cultivation” model has increased the income level of farmers, but how it affects national food security is worthy of attention. Taking Qianjiang city in Hubei province as an example, the impact of the “crayfish-rice cultivation” model on food security was analyzed. The study found that the “crayfish-rice cultivation” model improved land production efficiency, played a leading role in the main business, saved food production costs, and improved the quality of food products. However, there were also some problem,such as farmers paid attention to crayfish farming and ignored rice planting, green and high-quality ecological crayfish rice could not obtain high-quality. Further targeted proposals are put forword to optimize the industrial structure, support the branded operation of crayfish and rice, achieve high-quality and high-priced crayfish and rice products, accelerate the promotion of moderate-scale operations, and strengthen the construction of modern agricultural industrial parks.
