Abstract: Callus treatment is a pretreatment measure to ensure the effective and safe storage of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.), which not only contributes to the formation of sweet potato callus periderm and prevents the infection of diseases, but also effectively reduces the loss of water during storage. The research and promotion of the hot callus and equipment of sweet potato is of great significance to the development of sweet potato industry in China. The research progress of the formation process and action of sweet potato callus, the synthetic pathway of callus and its influencing factors were reviewed. The effects of phenylpropane metabolism pathway, defense enzyme and secondary metabolites on sweet potato callus were summarized, and the factors affecting the formation of sweet potato callus were analyzed, which provided theoretical basis for screening the callus conditions and developing the technology and equipment of sweet potato callus.

Key words: sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.), callus, phenylpropanoid metabolism, defense enzyme, secondary metabolite, impacting factors
