Abstract: In order to clarify the status of tobacco planting soil fertility in Xiangyang city, five nutrient indices of 961 soil samples from three tobacco-growing areas were tested and analyzed in 2019. The weight of each soil nutrient index was determined by principal component analysis method, and the comprehensive evaluation of soil fertility was conducted by using the membership function of fuzzy mathematics. The results showed that the proportion of soil pH in the suitable range was 41.73%. The contents of available potassium and phosphorus were relatively sufficient, reaching 60.87% and 66.29% respectively in the high level range. The proportion of organic matte in the high level range was only 18.73%, slightly less than the average. The proportion of alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen in the high level range was 34.96%. The average of comprehensive evaluation indexes of tobacco planting soil was 0.58, the coefficient of variation was 31.28%. Comprehensive fertility of 80.85% tobacco planting soils was in the medium or above level. So most of the tobacco planting soil was suitable for high-quality tobacco cultivation in Xiangyang city.
