Spatial and temporal difference of carbon emission efficiency in Jiangsu Province based on super-efficiency SBM model

Abstract: Through the super-efficient SBM model with non-expected output and Malmquist productivity index, the carbon emission efficiency of each city in Jiangsu Province from 2011 to 2020 was calculated and the spatial and temporal differences were analyzed. Results showed that there was a significant difference in carbon emission efficiency among the prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu Province, with the overall characteristics of higher carbon emission efficiency in central Jiangsu than in southern Jiangsu and higher carbon emission efficiency in southern Jiangsu than in northern Jiangsu. The innovation of technology was the core driving factor for the improvement of carbon emission efficiency in Jiangsu Province. Unreasonable resource allocation and low scale efficiency were the main reasons why the carbon emission efficiency in Jiangsu Province had not reached the production frontier.
