The integration of tourism and urban development in the process of urbanization with Chinese characteristics

Abstract

Abstract: Data analysis on urbanization rate, domestic tourism income and international tourism foreign exchange income in mainland China from 1997 to 2012 was made. The results showed that tourism development and urbanization were two-way interaction. There is a bilateral causality between tourism development and urbanization. The significant of the bilateral causality of different provinces and cities were different. The law of change revealed that other factors that affected the interaction were playing a role.Promoting urbanization through tourism development is a feasible policy choice.
