Abstract: The volatile components of valerian(Valeriana officinalis L.) essential oil from 2020 and 2021 were analyzed using gas chromatography-time of flight mass spectrometry. The relative content of each component was calculated using the peak area normalization method, and the compositional characteristics of volatile components of valerian essential oil from two years were studied. The results showed that a total of 70 main volatile components were identified in the two years of valerian essential oil, with the highest relative content of diene compounds. There was a significant difference in the volatile components of valerian essential oil between two years, with more types of volatile components present in 2021 compared to 2020. Among the common volatile components, the relative content of 2-pinene, camphene, β-Pinene, 1-limonene, endobornyl acetate, myrtenyl acetate, methoxyacetic acid, and β-terpinyl acetate was high.
