Research on the spatial structure of new urbanization based on fractal theory: Taking Urumqi-Changji-Shihezi urban agglomeration as an example

Abstract: Based on the relevant documents of national new urbanization, some published research results and the development characteristics of new urbanization in the research target area, the evaluation index system of new urbanization development was constructed. With the help of fractal theory and model, the information dimension, capacity and multifractal dimension spectrum of the new urbanization development of Urumqi-Changji-Shihezi urban agglomeration were calculated, and the spatial structure of the new urbanization development of Urumqi-Changji-Shihezi urban agglomeration was analyzed. The results showed that all cities and counties in the study area met the fractal requirements and had multifractal structure, among which, Urumqi City and Shihezi City as the core of the town groups appear similar development law. The spatial structure of the development level of the new urbanization in the study area was hierarchical and the evaluation index system used to analyze the spatial structure of the new urbanization development had strong operability. The spatial structure analysis conclusion of the new urbanization development in Urumqi-Changji-Shihezi urban agglomeration group was in good agreement with the status quo of the target area, indicating that the fractal theory had a high application value in the research of the new urbanization spatial structure.
